It's sad that race still has a major role in US politics. Is Obama the best the Democrats can put up against the republicans? I doubt it. I don't think he's ready and he certainly doesn't have the experience. He's been a senator for 3 years and some people think he can be the leader of the most powerful country in the world. At least Bush was the governor of Texas for 5 years.

A black man running for president is screwed unless he has backing like that of Oprah. Is it sad that race still matter yes it is, it shouldn't but it does matter to people. Personally I wouldn't vote for the guy either he's too wishy washy for me, John Edwards is in my mind the only guy that speaks his mind and is honest or Ron Paul ( ooh gasp a republican). But have you seen the rest of the republican candidates. I think everytime Giuliani opens his mouth to answer a question he has to relate it back to New York and 911, talk about a douche bag. Nearly all of them still think the worls is less than 10000 years old and they are somehow related to Jesus.

You know, I am an African American woman and I have been looking at this race closely. I never thought anyone could take my vote away from Hillary, but I am casting my vote for Obama. Not because of race, which is a major issues in this country, but because Obama speaks to what I worry about in my everyday life. He boldly addresses issues like faith, education, healthcare, war and the economy in manner that I have seen no other politician of my time. Obama speaks from experience (read his track record), he is in the issues, rather than looking at them from afar. I see him walking in the concerns of the people. And you can say what you want about Oprah, but I can tell you this, if she endorses him, it is sincere. I respect her struggle and her power. Oprah is very careful to use the gifts that God gave her in a manner that she feels will be pleasing to him. I think Obama and Hillary should become running mates - they can compliment each other. But Hillary is not in the same place as Barack (she never can be) her perspective will always be different. We need change of approach and change of perspective in this country.
