Bishop Blows

November 19, 2007 @ 09:13

I admit, when it comes to sports sometimes I can get emotional and exaggerate, but I've gotta tell you, yesterdays performance by Michael Bishop in the Eastern Final has to be one of the worst I've ever seen.

The only excuse Bishop has is that it was his first ever start in professional playoff game, but that's the extent of it.

He's been around the Canadian Football League for seven years now and he should have a pretty good idea of what the game is all about.

His passing stats actually look quite impressive if you didn't see the game. He completed 21 passes for 376 yards, but attempted 45 and one of the completions went for 90 yards.

Other than that it was too little too late and in the early going he continuously over-threw open receivers. It was hard to believe why Pinball left him in there.

Which brings us to another point, what was Pinball thinking yesterday? There was little or no attempt to run the ball, and he all but ignored Andre Talbot who's been the Argos bread and butter guy all year.

The Bombers kept trying to hand the game to the Argonauts, especially in the fourth quarter, but Bishop wouldn't take it.

He should have had the opportunity, because Damon Allen or Rocky Butler couldn't have been any worse.

The sad thing is, the Argonauts had a responsibility to the city and the league to win yesterdays game, and although nothing is ever for sure, they let a lot of people down yesterday.

I was at the game and it was loud and crazy for about 5 minutes into the first quarter then you would have thought you were at a leafs game it was so quit there, you could here Clemons yelling out at the players.
I have tickets for next week and I am hoping that its more exiting then the Eastern Final
As for the traffic going down to the game after all the media scare about how bad it would be. It really wasn't bad at all. The worst part of it was paying $25.00 to park and when we came out the same lot had dropped its pricing to $10.00 what F&^K ing scam

What a let down. I thought for sure the Argos would be there next week. I'm going, but with a lot less enthusiasm than I had before. Sorry, but a Grey Cup between two (essentially) Western teams, one with a backup QB who hasn't seen any playing time doesn't exactly have me fired up.

BC had 55,000 people there yesterday. The Argos should have had the same, but as usual, bad timing follows this organization around like a circling buzzard. The thought of fighting 500,000 people heading down to the Santa Claus Parade was enough to keep me away, and I'm sure more than a few others.

Blame the city planning department for allowing them to host this at such a stupid time
they knew in May that this CFL game was going to be played and probably at least that long for the Raptors game
Is there a reason they couldn't have moved the Parade it until Dec 2nd the media also has to take a partial blame for making it seem like we were going to be invaded
This City just can't get anything right
I am surprised the Gardner wasn't shut down for repairs

Leafs beat the Sens 3-0 and you start the week with the Argos?

"CFL? Yaaaaaaaaawn. Wake me up when Toronto gets an NFL team."

Yeah. That would be exciting. Can't get enough of watching a QB stand like a statue in the pocket. And that run, run, pass, repeat (or punt) never gets old. Yaaaaaaaaawn.

People should not be so disappointed in the Argos. If you look at the entire season, they have done well with Bishop at the helm. Were you guys expecting them to be perfect? I wonder why an article was written on November 19th. The game was on the 18th. Let it go. It is in the past. Everyone should give Bishop a break. Everyone is always cheering him on when he does great. One off game and you so called fans turn against him.

MO - the Argos did well in the regular season thanks to their defense and special teams. Bishop was very inconsistent - sometime brilliant, sometimes awful. That's been the guy's problem from day one. One "off game"? The most important game of his career, and he actually says, "We came up short today. That's life. … I'm not disappointed at all. … I wouldn't change anything." That might be part of why "fans turn against him".
