Fred,
I'm in the middle of finishing a huge project and I just spent a good two hours reading your site and passing coffee out of my nose to the sound of Mr. Goohead. At this rate, I'll never get my book done for Wednesday, but I'm happy about it. Sheesh.
Just wondering what the background song is played during the goohead show.
I'd love to hear the cable company Mr. Goohead where you called to get "My TV." The woman's reaction was priceless and I just about drove in the ditch laughing at that on my way to work one day.
We miss you Fred. I'm glad I can continue to find out what you're up to with FreddieP. CFNY was a huge part of my life. It was the soundtrack of my teen years, of drawing and reading late into the night, and of meeting the woman who would become my wife. I still remember the song that was playing on CFNY the moment my sister passed away, and years later when my father passed away. I even remember listening to it the day my daughter was born on the way to the hospital. I know you hear that all the time, but it's true. You were always a big part of the spirit of CFNY. When you and Humble left much of that spirit left. I've mostly been listening to Indie 103.1 from L.A.. It reminds me of the olden days of the Spirit of Radio.

Because you like the episode so much I dug it up last night and here it is.. however its needs some explaining.

Several years ago Rogers Cable offered a package called "Me TV". You could design your own channel lineup for $5.99 a month.

Of course Mr. Goohead was mixed up so he called Rogers.

I should also explain that this took place during the Monika Lewinski/ Bill Clinton controversey.

I just found Indie103.1 this morning and emailed Alan Cross with the link. I know he's probably aware of it and doesn't really care about a few aging cfny listeners, but my point was that if the format is selling in L.A. (where Indie103 is), why couldn't it work here? And yes Jason, i concur about pleasing multiple demos.

The first few sets of music i heard on Indie103 included The Stranglers, James, White Stripes, NIN, Cure, Morrissey, She Wants Revenge..in short, a great mix of old and new. Of course, I really do despise bands like Linkin Park, Tool,etc, and i haven't heard anything remotely close to that on Indie103.

Steve Jones from the sex pistols also has a live 2hr show weekdays at noon. I listened today and it's a pretty eclectic mix. Dude even played peter, paul and mary believe it or not. No punk whatsoever.

There's also a live mixshow that the Crystal Method spins friday nights streaming live on their site.

Very cool station. Check it out.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.
