Shame Shame Shame

August 24, 2007 @ 10:33

There are so many ways to measure a sitting government, but more often than not you judge them on the grass routes issues.

How the hell can Toronto's police services "not" put "support our troops" decals on police cars.

Chief Bill Blair, obviously in cahoots with Toronto's dangerous and damaging mayor has decided not to allow the "free" decals to be placed on police vehicles.

It's frustrating that it's come to this, but its even more frustrating to not know "why."

The socialist whack jobs on Toronto city council don't have enough guts to come out and give a definitive answer as to why.

Why Bill Blair, why David Miller.

Miller in particular should be ashmed of himself.

But then again he shows no shame in his obvious inability to run a large North American city so why should he care about this.

I'm not a fan of Miller at all but I really don't get the obsession over these stickers.

Do you really need to put a decal saying you support our troops? Who doesn't support the troops? I defy you to find someone, anyone, who DOESN'T support the troops.

Why don't you get a sticker that says "I'm against cancer" while you are at it.

If you really want to support the troops do something that is meaningful. Write them a letter, make a donation to one of their charities.

I agree, Mike. Labels (or decals in this case) only create targets. It smells of an agenda. Of course we support the troops - the stickers aren't going to make that any more or any less truthful, so get rid of them.

Mike and Trish - you are right to a point. I would go one step further and add that neither do I want someone telling me that I'm "not allowed" to show a decal. Or that it supports "warmongering" a la Carolyn Parrish and her ilk...

Why do we or politicians have a say in this matter? Police officers and soldiers have offered their lives to protect ours. If they want to show a sign of solidarity in times of confrontation, then who are we to interfere with how they do this? If there was defacing or objectionable material I believe we would have a case to ask them to stop, but for a sticker to show support, I think not.

Fred - Why did you post Blundell's column, only to remove it? Who threatened you with a lawsuit?? Tell us please.

I'm curious about the Dean Blundell post as well. You know very well that most people's comments in regards to anything related to that show have been very negative. You claim to be a fan of the guys, but I think you like poking the bear.

I dislike Dean Blundell's show intensely. He sucks the big one.

I turned CFNY's morning show off, never to return until Blundell is gone.
