Mr. Carroll is showing his age. Soccer is the number one sport played by the youth of this country, and with his reasoning, we wouldn't have our beloved Canucks after the Stanely Cup run against the Rangers that had riots in the steets of Vancouver after every game.

we don't need pro or semi pro soccer here. the town of oakville is looking to spend millions on developing a soccer park in north oakville, to cater to the loud vocal minority. it would be one thing if it was soccer fields for kids, but it's not - they want world cup style soccer. what a waste.
and lew - soccer is only played by kids here because it's cheaper than hockey and more exercise than baseball.
we don't need soccer. what we need is another pro hockey team - let's dump the toronto fc and go kidnap the nashville predators.

Jim, my only experience with this is with my son. I love hockey and always wanted to have my son play. He never wanted to, he wanted to play soccer because all his friends play, at school and in leagues. That's the reality, welcome to the 21st Century.
If you do want to play a blame game, please look to the greed of the NHL owners and players that have stole the game of hockey from the average Joe and Joey's.

Freddy Common you sound like you are writing for the star there has been over 50 games played over the last 3 weeks and to only have 1 incident that no charges were laid is a major event (Must be a slow news day ) or to much time at the TIKI Bar
What about the Basketball player who went into the stands and punched a fan , what about Bertuzzi breaking a guys neck that is major news
If you watched the game and understood the game you understand the frustration that this team felt
I am not condoning what happened
I think we as Canadians are doing with soccer what Americans are doing with hockey they don't get or understand it so they don't like it
I guess we are not as different from them as we all like to think

The desperation for soccer fanatics to see this game succeed here is funny.
There is no "new wave" of soccer fans growing in Toronto. Toronto FC is in their honeymoon period, and are filling a brand new stadium. Once Beckham renegs on his contract 2 years from now, and the stadium is not so new the interest will die. Toronto FC will fold or move within 5 years.
Simply we dont care for the sport in Canada the way other contries do.

I go to all the TFC games and they get rowdy in the stands but it never crosses the line. I sit in the supporter section and it doesn't get any rowdier but I've never seen it escalate into a physical affair. I have seen a number of games in England and trust me we are not even close to the level of hooliganism displayed by the Brits.
Plus the South Americans maybe some of biggest soccer hooligans out there. I hang out with some guys from brazil and they say at a Corinthians game if you where the opposing teams jersey your not getting out of the stadium alive.
So as far as saying bulldoze BMO field well then you better bulldoze Ivor Wynne stadium while your at it. You'll never see more fights and drunken louts in the stands than you will at the Ti-Cat vs Argos labour day classic. Trust me I've seen it up close.

Come on folks, lets put this in perspective...it's game 7 in TO, Sundin is on a break away, he is tripped, no call, the Senators come back the other way and score the winning goal. Toronto has a collective sigh, says oh well, lets go home and wait for the Jays to start their season.....yeah, that's how it would go down in the streets.
