I Enjoyed the Lunch

June 26, 2007 @ 09:14

Thanks again to the crew at 640 and Leafs Lunch.

I had the privilege of co-hosting with Jeff Marek again yesterday and it was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Marek's a pro which makes anyone's job a little easier, and it didn't hurt that I was on the show following the NHL Entry Draft and the Leafs big trade.

There was a lot to talk about and thanks to producer Jeff Domet/Punch/Chicken Shwarma, we even had new Leaf Mark Bell on the show.

And thanks to technical producer James Edgar who always makes me feel welcome by reminding me of several ridiculous things I did and said during the MOJO days.

It's a bittersweet thing for me. I love doing the show, but when I leave the building a feel bummed out that I'm not really in the business any more.

Hopefully that will change in the coming months.

Fred - what a pleasure to hear you back on 640 doing what you do so well. Baby C'mon.

Here's hoping you're on the radio on a more regular basis. God knows Toronto radio could use more Freddie P. Let's be doing it.

Baby c'mon!
Good seeing you back in the halls yesterday Freddie. Hopefully it will happen more often.

Freddie, I listened in last night. Although I haven't been following the draft, I appreciate your work on the show. Very smooth. No doubt you'll be back in the seat before long.

Hey Freddie, caught some of the show last night. You were great. I hope when you get back on radio, it is a talk format. Except for Q107, I can't stand music radio anymore. It is vacuous, silly and boring. Some of the hosts that have been around for years sound like they can't wait for their shift to be over. They should hang it up if they don't like the job anymore. Am I alone thinking like this or does anyone agree? I don't want to slag anyone or mention names. I think we all get up in the morning and do the best with what we have but I can't listen to the music stations anymore. It's just too annoying.

I agree Linda - I stick to the Q as well. And yes, it was fantastic hearing Freddie again...

Freddie said "hopefully that will change in the coming months.." I hope that's a good omen!

What I really enjoyed about Fred yesterday was the serious talk. I'm used to hearing Fred as a sportscaster, as the other half of Humble, or as Mr. Goohead. Fred the sports analyst is a departure and he's darn good at it. I really think he's got something there!

Trish I agree.
I've been listening to Fred for as long as anyone in our city and have always enjoyed his serious discussions.
I listen to talk radio to hear other perspectives and opinions or debates.
I don't want to hear a laugh track or scripted format as most FM morning shows now have.
And Fred, thanks for reminding us the show was rebroadcast in the evening.
I was in a ball tourny during the day, so I was able to sit on the couch with icepacks on my injuries and listen to the show.
Keep up the good work.
Al
