Heavily Ignored

May 24, 2007 @ 09:19

It turns out Toronto's rejection of the Ottawa Senators has become a major problem for the CBC.

Ratings for the Stanley Cup playoffs are significantly down in Canada, and CBC Sports executive director Scott Moore blames Toronto fans for not jumping on the Senators bandwagon.

He says Calgary got behind the Edmonton Oilers last year and he'd really like to see the same thing happen between Toronto and Ottawa as the Stanley Cup final begins next week.

The Ottawa-Buffalo series was a dismal failure in Toronto, failing to crack the top 25 shows last week. The Gilmore Girls had more viewers for cryin' out loud.

I think Moore's request will fall on deaf ears. Maybe if Detroit had won the West a few more hockey fans would be interested in this market, but if Ottawa-Buffalo can't draw attract viewers, I don't like the prospects for Ottawa-Anaheim.

Maybe Toronto viewers could strike a deal with the CBC.

We'll agree to watch the Stanley Cup final in larger numbers if they agree to cancel the Royal Canadian Air Farce.

I'd sign up for that.

Freddie I am drafting up the paper work right know
I don't really care who wins this year to be honest every series I have watch this year has been boring and not much fun to watch
Playoff hockey should be fast pace hard hitting
WE have not seen alot of this in the playoffs this year with every good hit comes a penalty or a suspension it's like watching the world cup of hockey when it's played in Europe
The only problem is our ice surface is too small in North America to try to accomplish this type of play.
What you end up getting is the trap or dumps and chase. This stops the skilled players from using the skill that got them there…….
Change that CBC and you may get more viewers

Kudos to the Sens for getting to the finals. Their management team unlike the Leafs have done a great job building a winner. Through the draft and some trades they have the tools along with good coaching. I'm jealous the Leafs management has never been able to do what the Sens did. When it comes to their fans, that's when it's difficult to cheer for this team. Their whining about city of Toronto and the Leafs gets tiresome. So as a result, I really hope Anaheim knocks them off in 4 straight. But with this great weather here in T.O., I won't be watching anyway. Too many other things to do outside.

What do you hear you're what you are saying???????? They were one of the worst 3 teams in the NHL for 6 years of there existence that is how they built this team
They never went out and signed Alferdesson or Redin
or fisher or Spezza
I believe the were responsible for destroying Alexander Daigle though the only real signing that his team did was bringing in a keeper that wasn't a mental case Lalime and Hasek I wish them well but lets not give credit were its not due this is not Muckler's team

Freddie...the NHL is the problem here not Toronto fans or lack thereof. Nobody cares about the playoffs because Bettman has thrown any continuity out the window so that he can bow down to 3 Amarican fans. Bettman is to blame here.....not us.

Freddie, you're not often wrong but you're right again.

Tough luck, Scott Moore & the CBC.

My interest lagged when the Leafs and Canadians were eliminated, then the CBC let themselves get bowled over by the powers that be in the US sports empire for afternoon games.

No Hockey NIGHT in Canada ?? What the fuck??

I lost all interest entirely at that point and what little respect I had for the taxpayer funded CBC.

Scott Moore can't goad me into supporting the Senators, in fact, he can take a great big fat suck on my ass.

If he wanted the ratings (and that's all he wants) he should have had the balls to lean on the NHL and get Hockey Night in Canada those games.

They don't really give a shit about the NHL in non-border US anyway. Quit trying to get blood from a stone, get a team into Hamilton or London. The arena would be packed just from the overflow of Leaf fans.

A further thought, let's go crazy and instead of London or Hamilton, what about Brantford?

Brantford is the home of Wayne Gretzky, it's all falling into place now. NHL... heed our wishes, kaa-ching!!!

Though I am a Buffalo Sabres fan from Sanborn, I watched my playoff games on the CBC. Much more entertaining than coverage on NBC or Versus. Just a shame that they wait now till Monday to start... I should be getting ready to watch Hockey Night in Canada now. I doubt anyone in Anihiem would give a damn either way...

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

to get heard of the modern Kinect? Its truly awesome! I never had a great deal fun playing video games before, eventhough I will call myself a new hardcore player that will usually plays adventures like Call of Duty and so on. The Kinect is simply so different than whatever else I have ever before played before. this motion controles work really well, and in addition to that, but not needing to use a controller to experiment with is the personification regarding freedom! No troublesome button smashing anymore, a single word is enough! You should really think about getting the Kinect!.
