Stephanie Smyth Checks In

April 20, 2007 @ 09:14

I've got to be honest, a great deal of the enjoyment of maintaining this site, is the reaction I get. It's nice to know it's actually being received.

Yesterday am 640 News Director Stephanie Smyth responded to this posting and which is pretty cool. I know there are a lot more radio people who read my blog but for some reason they choose not to contribute.

I wish they would. I think my site can provide a lot better dialogue than some other yellow radio boards out there. I mean really, wouldn't it be great if radio people across the country could come together on my site, the site of someone who's actually worked in the business?

I'd like to teach the world to sing.

But I digress. Back to Stephanie - she and a lot of other radio and TV people were put in a tough position on Wednesday when they had to decide whether to air the Cho Sueng-Hui promotional package.

Stephanie chose not to and from what I can gather she received a lot of support for that decision.

Beyond all that, it was encouraging to hear from Stephanie and I've agreed to do her a favour. She wants me to plug her am 640 blog - and she wants me to know she's every bit as sweet and wonderful as Jane Brown.

The Big Yellow Board is sad sad sad. It's a great place to discuss Radio Shack.

That said, why keep using the guy's name? We all know what happened, but why call the gunman by name? I refuse to. We should focus on the tragedy, hear more about the victims and what their ambitions were (since their futures were stolen) and on how to try and prevent similar occurences in the future. The focus should not be on the A-hole who is responsible. He shouldn't be made famous.

THANK YOU Freddie P!

That "yellow radio board" you mentioned is a disappointment. Despite efforts to keep it legit. The potential was there for mature, informed discussion about our industry but, alas, it has become irrelevant. I turn to you for HOPE! ;)
Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
Steph

Stephanie Smyth is poor excuse of a journalist. I wish she'd learn that woman are supposed to be at home washing dishes.

John Stephens.

Isn't "John Stephens" the name of an American Idol contestant?

This "John Stephens" is about as mentally developed as that 15 year old was.
