Security Breach

February 28, 2007 @ 08:05

Remember this day, February 27th, 2007, the day the Liberals and NDP got together with the Bloc Quebecois and put you and your families safety at risk.

The opposition parties joined forces to vote down the extension of two controversial anti-terrorism measures the Conservatives wanted to extend for three years

The measures empower authorities to detain suspected terrorists without charge and to compel individuals with knowledge of terrorist activity to testify before a judge.

The Harper government says the provisions are needed to keep the country safe from terrorists, but the opposition parties say they go too far and infringe on civil liberties.

Ironically it was the Liberals who introduced the bill following 911, and neither one has ever been used, but Stephane Dion was hell bent to see the extension get squashed and he won. He won, but the country loses.

As of next Thursday when the provisions expire, Canadians will become a little more vulnerable because Stephane Dion chose to pander to the hysterical left and play politics with our safety.

But what the hell, I guess it's more important to make suspected terrorists feel a little more comfortable in good old Canada.

And we wonder why the Yanks are pushing the passport thing?

Fred come on. Who cares who initiated it. From the get go it was wrong to the very core. We as a democracy have created a structure as to how an enlightened society should behave. Yet through fear we start to take on traits of those radical few.

How can we be in favour of holding someone for a year with no due course...evidence concealed, denial of the right to see a lawyer...etc. Do we really want a police state? Do we want to behave like 'the yanks'? No thanks and don't get me goin'... And hey what does the passport thing have to do with this.

I think it's time we had it out over a few beers my friend

Oh No, Don't tell me Mr. CBC is going to start expressing his views on this site now.
Wrong again, Dan Duran.
Unless there's very good reason to believe that someone is a "suspected terrorist",
there's not going to be breaches of civil liberties.
We're not going to start hauling citizens off the street and start locking them up with no good reason so give us a break on the "police State" embellishment. This is simply about being responsible and diligent in the interest of PROTECTING your civil liberties. Unfortunately, as usual, the liberals would prefer to play politics with the issue instead of addressing or supporting it.
The "radical few" that you refer to are the ones preventing you from having your "enlightened society". Ironically, they're the only ones that would be inconvenienced by these measures but your head is so far up your ass you don't even realize that.

wow this sounds like an eposiode of 24 can I play Jack Bower and Dan you can be the president that alway gets killed

I'm on the fence on this one. On the one hand I firmly believe in the old saying " Those who would give up freedom for secuity desrve niether freedom nor security" So I believe the state should not have powers that allow for detention without representation. On the other hand I have no trouble saying that the Liberals and NDP are playing politics. Sorry Fence sitting here. I just don't see any easy solutions.

Dan, were you aroused when you wrote your spiel??? Because we all know that filling a "large member" with blood does not leave enough for your brain to work.!!!!!

I fully agree with this Mike Kimber dude's comment. In addition, if the terrorists know we have (had) such a law it would be another deterrent.

Canada as a model of an enlightened society is a myth created by the Liberals and NDP, and peddled by CBC and Toronto Star. Ask the average joe out on the street and you'll likely get a very different story. Like all other "enlightened" Canadians who trash the USA, Dan Duran hides his head in the sand, hoping the bad guys won't see him.
I'm a fence-sitter too. I question the harshness of the measure. But squashing it is foolish. Surely there is some compromise?

OK so now my blood filled member's head which was up my ass in now in the sand.

What - have you all forgotten that we already have laws? Do you for a moment think that the laws on the books have left out mass murder and blowing up buildings?

Now I think what James Edger said was right on. And he is right. They are all 'playing politics'...in fact that is what the liberals were doing when they brought in the law since the Americans went beyond the pale with their draconian approach to the whole thing.

I'm going to San Diego this weekend and I'll see what they have to say.

Dan, love you and love Fred (not to mention Humble!). Have for years. But, I'm with Freddie on this one.

For me, it really is this simple: Whatever it takes to prevent some crazy terrorist a-hole from blowing up my beautiful 5-year-old daughter.....DO IT.

I imagine you might feel the same about your young son.

Theories and hypotheticals are nice. But these bastards are for real. And frankly, living in the U.S., just across the lake from you folks, I do feel I have somewhat of a vested interest in keeping the border secure. Because if you guys don't stop them on your end, guess where they'll end up?

Thanks to those of you who choose not to blindly "Yank-bash".

Loving you,
JON

Tom Wappel voted against his own party and with the Conservatives because he had sat on the Subcommittee that had reviewed the anti-terrorist measures and was sufficiently concerned by what he heard from CSIS and other agencies to vote in favour of extending the measures. 'nuff said.

Have a great time in San Diego, Dan Duran - and, don't forget your passport !

(You can thank the radical few that you've pledged allegiance to for that little inconvenience.)

Why are you always going out of your way to defend the rights of criminals, perverts, dead beat dads and suspected terrorists, anyway ?

Give that big fat sand filled head of yours a shake as soon as you pull it out of your ass and enjoy your stay in that country you detest so much.

Now look take if from a "yank" I have seen our freedoms go down the shitter since Our president started making decisions about the way we travel. Trust me if a terrorist is going to get across the border they are going to regardless of passport laws. Chances are its not the ones crossing the border you have to look out for anyway...its the ones already there.
Look at the freedoms wehave had taken away...We cant even take a damn bottle of water on a plane anymore with out them having a fit. You cant walk to your plane without taking off your shoes. Im all for security but really....They know who they are looking for. And im sorry to be stereotypical but its not a white irish flatfoot and his wife going on their honeymoon.
It is someone with a tan with some sort of middle eastern name like Mohammad. Give the residents of our Countries their freedom to travel back.

4 words, "Live free or die". This anti-terrorism law isn't helping. The solution should be to establish democracy in the mid-east, not by diplomacy or sanctions or little wars like in Iraq or Afghanistan, but full-on burn the cities, ram it down their throats wars like WW2. Give Kandahar a taste of Dresden, or give Tehran the old Hiroshima. There'll be no more terrorists and no more liberty destroying laws.

Well, Dan Duran, I see not much has changed since the last time we spoke.

You must really enjoy the taste of your own shit because your mouth is always full of it.

You're a pea brain.

When I catch up with you I'm
going to hit you so hard you'll starve bouncing.

Man!!! Mary Pit is mad,eh!! I don't even know what that last line means???
Mike Kimber was correct. Dan Duran was wrong. Dannny D can bash the U.S. as much as he wants, however; the second they have had enough of us or need more oil than we are willing to sell......there will be 59 states, 3 territories and a nuclear blasthole where Quebec used to be, before you can say Sir Issac Brock!!

March 6, 2007 / 11:04

I'll say that Mary Pit is really pissed. Maybe she is a terrorist! Maybe she should be locked up in a trailer with the rest of the terrorists. Hey, wait a minute. That's what all you guys do all summer. Maybe there should be a terrorists trailer park at Burleigh Falls. Or is there already, hmmmm.

I usually read the article on weblogs when I leave a opinion. If I have got zero to say about the article topic, I will likely not leave any feedback. And I enjoy to read anyone else’s reviews on that post also. Because I find invaluable ideas from the sound comments. I might have posted “Really good blog! Notable posts!” then I could be spamming your blog. I as well develop a web site, the very first thing I might do day to day after i signed up on my wordpress bog is see feedback to my posts and personally approve or reject these observations. Keywordluv as well as brings you more commenters. It boosts your position in search engines seeing as you’re not only on countless “dofollow blog lists” but also on a number of those “keywordluv lists”. Thank you, Sara
